RICHMOND, Va. - The Drexel men's soccer team saw two members honored by the Colonial Athletic Association on Wednesday as the league released its annual postseason All-CAA teams and individual awards. Seniors John Grosh and Robert Liberatore were both named All-CAA performers, with Grosh earning a spot on the Second Team and Liberatore being named to the Third Team. Liberatore was also a member of the CAA All-Academic squad.
Grosh, who earned his first All-CAA nod with the award, started all 18 games for Drexel during the 2014 season. A midfielder, Grosh helped key the offensive attack and finished with two goals and five assists. Both were tops or tied for the most on the team, with Grosh's five assists matching the most by any Dragon since 2007. Both of his goals came during conference play, including a score during the Dragons' draw with College of Charleston. All five of his assists came in Drexel wins or draws.
Liberatore, who was also a Third Team All-CAA performer last season, helped key a defensive unit that came up with five shutouts on the year. Liberatore also started all 18 games for Drexel and saw 73 starts in 74 appearances throughout his career. His goal paired with Grosh's to earn the Dragons their first point of the league season in their 2-2 draw with the College of Charleston. Already a two-time Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area member and last year's Philadelphia Soccer Six Academic Player of the Year, Liberatore earned the league's All-Academic nod this season. He is set to graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering, and currently sports a 3.89 grade point average.
