Men's Crew Concludes Season at the IRA National Championships

Sacramento, California – Director of Rowing Paul Savell and the men's crew team closed out the historic season at the 2013 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships on Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2 on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, California. The men's freshmen eight finished 12th in the nation, while the men's varsity eight placed 20th overall and the men's varsity four earned 22nd overall.
The men's varsity eight finished second in the fourth final with a time of 6:00.791. Dartmouth clocked in first at 5:59.243. The Lois Krall shell consisted of coxswain Marc Smith, stroke Kurt Linton, Vanja Busic, Aleksandar Radovic, Lorenzo Albala, Sebastian Ryan, John Pieper, Michael Faust and bow Casimir Czworkowski. The Dragons crossed the finish line ahead of Holy Cross, Gonzaga and UCSD respectively.
The men's freshmen eight finished sixth in the petite final with a time of 6:14.889. Wisconsin recorded a first-place time of 6:06.650 followed by Navy, Princeton, George Washington and Dartmouth. The Vince Vidas boat featured Christopher Henderson, stroke Daniel Dollin, Mikulas Sum, Nicholas Capaldi, Michael DiLucca, Dave Hanrahan, Daniel Palombo, Daniel Pyle and bow Lawrence Lindawan. The men's eight went undefeated throughout the entire spring season leading up to the IRA National Championships.
The men's varsity four stopped the clock fourth in the third level final with a time of 6:56.117. Jacksonville won the race in 6:49.397. Northeastern and Princeton took third and fourth place. The Dragons finished before Oregon State. The LeBow College of Business boat was guided by coxswain Victoria Kenion, stroke Marko Durica, Cameron Staines, Ian Luetzow and bow Ryan Mallgrave.
