Men's Basketball Hosts Annual Banquet

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball team gathered on Monday night for their annual end-of-the-year banquet, honoring their team award winners and recognizing the senior class.
Sophomore guard Damion Lee was named the Dragons' Most Valuable Player, after averaging 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. Lee was named a Second Team All-CAA performer, finishing third in the league in scoring. The Baltimore native led the Dragons with 62 three-pointers and shot .829 from the free throw line.
Junior guard Frantz Massenat was given the team's Assists Award, averaging 4.2 assists per game. Massenat started all 31 games, averaging 16.7 points per game to earn Second Team All-CAA honors. He was also presented with a ball commemorating his 1,000th career point, a milestone achieved during the season.
Kazembe Abif was recognized as the Donald Shank Spirit & Dedication Award winner. Abif, a sophomore forward, started six of the 27 games in which he appeared during 2012-13, averaging 4.4 points and 3.4 assists for the season.
The Samuel D. Cozen Most Improved Player award was shared by two Dragons, as sophomore guard Aquil Younger and junior forward Goran Pantovic were recognized. Younger averaged 8.3 minutes per game off the bench for the Dragons, appearing in all 31 contests. Pantovic made 19 appearances, pulling down 2.1 boards a contest.
The “Sweep” Award for the Dragons' top rebounder went to senior forward Daryl McCoy, who pulled down 8.6 rebounds a contest in 29 appearances. Senior guard Derrick Thomas, meanwhile, was recognized with the Dragon “D” Award as the team's top defensive player.
Finally, Steve Manojlovic earned the team's Academic Award. Manojlovic, a junior environmental studies major, boasts a 3.55 grade point average.
