CLEAR Athletes of the Week: Davis and Rahauser

Philadelphia – Skyler Davis (Malibu, Calif. /Malibu High) of men's tennis and Laura Rahauser (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) of women's squash have been named CLEAR Athletes of the Week from Monday, February 18 through February 24 by Drexel Athletics.
Junior Skyler Davis won his singles match at Temple on Friday. He went 7-5, 6-1 in straight sets against the Owls' Kristian Marquart to help the Dragons defeat Temple, 4-3. Friday's win marked Drexel men's tennis' first victory over the Owls' since March 2, 2008. On Saturday, men's tennis also downed Saint Franics (Pa.), 6-1, earning their fourth straight win. Davis and Badr Ouabdelmoumen won 8-7 in doubles play. He also competed in the No. 2 spot in singles and picked up a 6-2, 6-1 decision. Davis is now 3-2 in singles and 4-1 in doubles play.
Freshman Laura Rahauser, completing her first collegiate season, won a dramatic clinching match to propel the Dragons into the Walker Cup semifinals. Playing at the No. 4 position, Rahauser claimed an 11-6 win in the first set, but faltered in the second, as Mt. Holyoke's Samantha Rosado won 11-4. The third set went back to Rahauser, who won 11-8 after holding off a Rosado charge. In the fourth, the two competitors battled back and forth, but Rosado managed to come out on top with an 11-9 win. Fortunately for the Dragons, the pair continued trading sets in the fifth, as Rahauser won 11-6 to complete her win and the Dragons' overall victory.
Men's Tennis (5-1) will visit UMBC on Saturday, February 23 at noon before traveling to Navy on Sunday. Matches are set to begin at 5:00 p.m. against the Midshipmen. Women's squash finished the year 8-11 overall. The squad earned a No. 20 overall national ranking and received the CSA's Most Improved Team of the Year award.
