Northeastern Defeats Women's Soccer, 1-0
10/11/2013 10:14:00 PM | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – Despite an energetic first half, the Drexel women's soccer team fell to Northeastern, 1-0, on Friday evening at Vidas Field. The Dragons are now 4-9-1, 0-4 while the Huskies improve to 4-6-3, 4-0.
The Dragons came out with a vengeance in the first half. They had an abundance of opportunities to score as they outshot the Huskies 7-2 in the first 45 minutes, but to no avail. The match remained scoreless going into halftime.
Northeastern opened scoring just after the second half began, with Lahaina Zoller scoring in the 51st minute off an assist from Hanna Terry. Terry brought the ball in from the left side and fed it to Zoller who was able to put it past a diving Eve Badana into the high right part of the net. Zoller's goal proved to be the game-winner as the Dragons were not able to retaliate in the remaining 39 minutes.
Drexel and Northeastern tallied 12 shots a piece on the match. Badana recorded six saves, while Northeastern keeper Paige Burnett tallied seven.
The Dragons will close out their home schedule on Sunday afternoon as they host Hofstra at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day. Drexel seniors Jess Sarkisian, Andi Stampone, and Christine Stevenson will be honored prior to kick-off.
