Men's Basketball to Take Part in Anaheim Classic

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Drexel men's basketball team will take part in the Sixth Annual Anaheim Classic, it was announced on Thursday morning. The event is held Thanksgiving weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center, and will take place this year on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, November 22, 23 and 25. Drexel is one of six teams in the eight-team field that participated in postseason play in 2012.
The Dragons will be joined in Anaheim by 2012 NCAA Tournament teams Cal, Saint Mary's and Xavier. Drake and Rice, two other Anaheim Classic participants, wound up meeting in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Georgia Tech, the 2004 NCAA runner up, and Pacific round out the field.
The 2012 Anaheim Classic will feature 12 games through three days. Each team will play three games, advancing through the bracket until the two undefeated teams face off in the championship game on Sunday. The Big West serves as the event's sponsoring conference.
The Anaheim Classic is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television, a subsidiary of ESPN. The complete television schedule for the event has yet to be released.
