Women's Tennis Handles Hofstra, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's tennis team took care of business on Saturday, defeating Hofstra for its third-straight win, 6-1 at the Drexel Armory.
After sweeping the doubles point, Drexel got singles victories fromits second-through-sixth singles players. Zeynep Mafa, Marcela Rosales, Emma Brook, Alex Bell and Nicole Pivonka all got singles victories for the Dragons, who improved to 9-6 on the year.
The doubles point went to Drexel handily, as Emma Brook and Nicole Pivonka rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 3, followed by Marcela Rosales and Elise Leizerovich's 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot. Sonja Stosic and Zeynep Mafa made it a clean sweep with their 8-7 (8), grind-it-out win at the top spot.
In singles, Rosales got the Dragnos off to a good start with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3. After a close battle in the first set, Nicole Pivonka rolled to a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot, making it 3-0 Dragons overall. Emma Brook had the clinching point, winning 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.
Zeynep Mafa won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, and Alex Bell took her match at No. 5, 6-1, 6-4.
Tennis will now enjoy a week off before returning to the Armory for its final home match of the year. Senior Day will take place on March 31 when the Dragons host St. Peter's in a non-conference match.
