Massenat and Givens Named All-District

Philadelphia - Drexel's Frantz Massenat and Samme Givens have been named All-District performers by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Massenat and Givens have been key performers on a Drexel team that set the school record for wins in a season.
Massenat started every game at the point for Bruiser Flint's team that advanced to the 2012 NIT. He was named First Team All-District. The sophomore leads the Dragons in scoring (13.7), assists (161) and steals (30). He also leads the CAA in three-point percentage at .457. Massenat, a First Team All-CAA selection scored 18 points and handed out a career-high 14 assists in Drexel's 81-56 victory against Central Florida in the First Round of the NIT.
Givens was named Second Team All-District. He became just the third player in Drexel history to score 1,000 career points and grab 1,000 rebounds. Givens averages 11.1 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds. A senior who attended the Academy of the New Church, Givens is fourth in the history of the CAA in career rebounds and was a Second Team All-CAA pick this season.
The NABC recognizes the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Tuesday, March 20. Drexel is a member of District 10, which includes all of the Colonial Athletic Association teams.
Drexel is now 28-6 this season. The Dragons host Northern Iowa in the second round of the 2012 NIT on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
