Philadelphia, Pa. - Two Dragons were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All Mid-Atlantic Region Teams this week. Sophomore Melissa Chapman (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) received first team honors, while sophomore goalkeeper Eve Badana (Markham, Ontario/Saint Brother Andre) earned third team.
Chapman was also named First Team All-CAA this season after a strong showing proving her to be one of the league's top defensive players. She was a key part of Drexel's defense, which allowed a CAA-low 13 goals and only six of those in conference play. Chapman also scored four goals, including a game-winner and one that tied a game late.
Badana was awarded Colonial Athletic Association's Defensive Player of the Year after an outstanding season in goal for the Dragons. She set a Drexel school record with 10 shutouts, including six in conference play. Badana led the CAA with a 0.67 goals against average and was third in the league with an .835 save percentage. She was a First Team All-CAA selection after being named to the CAA Second Team as a freshman last year.
The Dragons finished 13-3-3 overall, 7-2-1 in conference this season and advanced to the playoffs for the first time in school history.
