Dragons Open Rowing Spring Season with Solid Showing on Cooper River

Camden, N.J. - Drexel men's crew posted a strong first showing on the water for the spring season as the Dragons' raced Delaware and Saint Joseph's on the Cooper River. The men's varsity eight boats clocked in the top times for the Dragons.
Drexel's men's varsity eight finished with a top time of 6:10.5 over Saint Joseph's. The Vince Vidas Boat featured coxswain Randall Lee, stroke Kurt Linton, Kyle Fabel, Aleksandar Radovic, Lorenzo Albala, Timothy Drake, Will Masters, Liam O'Neill, and bow Jacob Sloan.
Marc Smith coxed the Class of '72 boat with stroke John Pieper, Vanja Busic, Sebastian Ryan, Steven Miner, Ryan McSpedon, Ross Morris, Matthew Ryan, and bow Marcus DeMarici for a top time of 6:26.2. The Pennoni boat with coxswain Steven Matyas, stoke Filip Topalovic, Gregg Francis, Kevin Rorabaugh, Michael Golden, Ernesto Del Valle, Nick Buyse, Michael Faust, and bow Peter Schmidtclocked in at 6:26.7.
The men's third varsity eight crossed the finish line at 6:30.7 for a first place finish. Coxswain Justin Malley, stroke, Ernesto Del Valle, Gregory Pierce, Dylan Siegfried, Patrick McGann, Pete Eyrich, Scott Nordsiek, John Luciani, and bow Adam Cordi represented the Dragons in the Peggy Greenawalt boat.
Drexel crew will host Villanova next Saturday, March 19 on the Schuylkill River.
