Drexel Women’s Lacrosse Adds Seven Freshmen

Philadelphia - Drexel women's lacrosse Head Coach Anna Marie Vesco has announced the signing of seven student-athletes for the 2011-12 season. Teresha Bradley, Abigail Devlin, Caroline Dodds, Joelle Hartke, Emily Kellett, Summer O'Donnell, and Jocelyn Quaile will join the Dragons this spring at Vidas Field.
Bradley, a four-year starting goalkeeper and senior captain, was named Second Team All-South Jersey Honorable Mention and Rancocas Valley's MVP player. As a junior and senior, she earned Second Team Burlington County League honors. During her sophomore year, the Lumberton, N.J. native was selected to the Second Team School Girls National Tournament team.
Collegeville, Pa. product Devlin led the Methacton lacrosse and basketball team throughout her four years. The senior captain and four-year letterwinner scored over 100 career goals. Devlin received All-Area and All-League honors sophomore through senior year. She also was named the 2011 USL Academic All-American.
Dodds, a four-year varsity defender, helped the Great Valley's lacrosse team to the 2011 State Semi-Finals. She was named to the Daily Local First Team All-Area and Second Team All-League as a senior. Dodds was also selected to the 2010 Philly Under Armour team.
Hartke comes to Drexel from Clarence Center, N.Y., where she was named First Team All-Western New York and Women's Division National Tournament All-Star in 2011. The three-year varsity letterwinner also received First Team ECIC honors as a junior and senior. In 2010, she was selected to the 2010 Women's Division National Tournament team.
Kellett of Philadelphia, Pa. received First Team All-League honors in 2009, 2010, and 2011. The four-year attacker scored over 100 goals in her last season at Methacton. She was named First Team All-Area and the team's MVP player in 2010 and 2011. Kellett lead the lacrosse team in goals, assists, groundballs, and draw controls during her junior and senior seasons.
O'Donnell, a senior captain and four-sport letterwinner at Strath Haven, earned All-Delaware County and All-Central League honorable mention as a junior and senior. In 2011, she was the team's co-MVP honoree. The Pennsylvania native was named to ESPN Rise's “Top 50 Players on the Rise" and "Top 20 Defenders" lists in the fall of 2010. O'Donnell also helped the team finish as the 2010 Lacrosse Central League Co-Champions and the 2009 Lacrosse Pennsylvania State Championship Finalists.
Mullica Hill, N.J. product Quaile received First Team All-South Jersey and First Team All-Conference honors during her senior season at Clearview Regional. In 2010, she was named First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-South Jersey, and First Team School Girls National Tournament. Quaile was also a Second Team All-Conference and School Girls National Tournament honoree as a sophomore.
“This freshman class is a group of strong student-athletes with amazing potential,” Head Coach Anna Marie Vesco said. “Already, they have shown that they are motivated and eager to compete for a CAA championship. I am excited to see how they progress over their careers here at Drexel, and I have no doubt that they will make a lasting impact on the Dragons' lacrosse program.”
The Dragons finished the 2011 campaign with 9-8 overall and went 3-4 in conference play. Last season marked the first time in Drexel history, the women's lacrosse team will compete in the CAA Championship. These seven newcomers will look to help the Dragons make a second appearance in post-season competition this spring.
