Philadelphia – Drexel Women's Basketball Head Coach Denise Dillon has announced the addition of Abby Redick (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley) to the team via transfer. Redick, a 6-foot-1 forward, played at Virginia Tech and will have junior eligibility status when she joins the Dragons on the court at the start of conference play in the 2011-12 season.
“We are very pleased to welcome Abby to the Drexel program,” said Head Coach Denise Dillon. “She is an excellent student-athlete who will help to strengthen our squad next year. Her Division I experience and drive to succeed should allow her to make a seamless transition at Drexel.”
Redick played in all 30 of the Hokies' games as a freshman in 2009-10, averaging 2.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. She saw action in seven contests this season.
An Associated Press First Team All-State player at Hidden Valley, Redick helped lead her team to two state championships. She scored 1,038 points in her high school career. Redick was also a member of the 2007 AAU National Championship Team.
Redick comes from a family of athletes. Her brother JJ was an All-American at Duke and now plays for the NBA's Orlando Magic. Her brother, David, played football at Marshall and her sisters Alyssa and Catie played basketball at Campbell.
