Dragons Look to Redeem Themselves at William & Mary Today

Williamsburg, Va. - Drexel Women's Basketball plays its seventh road game in the last nine contests this afternoon when the Dragons challenge the Tribe of William & Mary at 2:00 p.m. Drexel (10-5, 2-2) enters the Sunday contest coming off a tough 77-73 overtime setback at James Madison on Thursday. The Dragons are in search of their first conference road win, while the Tribe (1-13, 0-4) is in pursuit of its first CAA win of the season. The Dragons, who have lost three of their last four games at Kaplan Arena at William & Mary Hall, will be looking for a boost from junior guard Kamile Nacickaite, who poured in a game-high 27 points against James Madison. Jasmina Rosseel (15), Hollie Mershon (13) and Taylor Wootton (10) also reached double-figures for the Dragons who led by six points in the second half but needed a late, long three-pointer by Mershon to force overtime. The loss pivoted on the battle of the boards, which Drexel lost 36-28. The Dukes scored 20 second-chance points after pulling down a number of offensive rebounds.
William & Mary has been playing its best basketball in recent contests. Junior guard Taysha Pye leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game. Rookie Kaitlin Mathieu is leading the team in rebounding and also averages better than 10 points per game. Emily Correal is also averaging double-figures in scoring in the team's four CAA games. The Tribe lost to Delaware in its last game 60-51 despite 19 points from Pye and 10 from Taylor Hilton. The Tribe was plagued by 20 turnovers, 10 of them committed by Pye.
William & Mary holds a slight 11-10 lead in the all-time series and won the teams' last meeting 71-65 in Williamsburg. Drexel's last victory over the Tribe at home was during the 2007-08 season.
