Philadelphia - On the eve of the 2010 CAA Softball Tournament, three of Drexel's top softball performers this season were honored with All-CAA distinction at the league's awards banquet. Senior Ashley Botelho and sophomore Paige Collings were named to the All-CAA First Team, while freshman Amanda Bachmann earned a place on the CAA All-Rookie Team. Drexel was one of just four teams with two All-CAA First Team selections on its roster this season.
Botelho earned her first distinction as an All-Conference First teamer as a utility player this year after ranking among the CAA's best in batting average and slugging percentage. The senior set Drexel career records for hits, home runs, RBIs and total bases this year while putting the finishing touches on an historic four years in University City.
Collings earns her second straight First Team All-CAA honor. After being picked for the First Team as a utility player last year, Collings earned a spot on the prestigious squad as a catcher this year. The native of British Columbia led all CAA receivers in batting with a .322 average, 51 hits and 29 RBIs. She also ranked in the top five among all conference players with 83 total bases this season. Collings set Drexel's single-season record for home runs with eight this season, topping a mark set by Ashley Botelho in 2008 and matched by Botelho and Sandi Wambold in 2009.
Bachmann turned in a stellar rookie campaign for Drexel in the outfield. She ranked among the top players in the league in driving in runs in conference games. Bachmann hit .306 with a homer and 12 RBIs in CAA games this year.
In Botelho and Collings, Drexel joined Hofstra, Towson and James Madison as the only teams with two All-CAA First Team selections. The Dragons finished 20-24 on the season and posted their second highest win total ever in CAA play.
