Drexel goalkeeper Mark Manos has been named as a finalist for the 2010 Tewaaraton Trophy. The award goes to the nation's top men's lacrosse player.
Manos, a West Chester, Pa., native is arguably one of the top goalkeepers in the country this season. The sophomore leads the CAA in all three goalkeeper categories in 2010, and is among the nation's Top-10 in both goals-against average and save percentage. Manos, a 2009 Second Team All-CAA selection, ranks seventh nationally with a 7.90 goals-against average heading into this weekend's matchup with No. 9 UMass. Manos, who started all 13 games for No. 13 Drexel, has faced 412 shots this season and turned away 153 of them for save percentage of .607, third-best among NCAA Division I goalkeepers.
The Tewaaraton Award was formally established in August of 2000 and is the pre-eminent lacrosse award, given annually to the NCAA men's and women's lacrosse player of the year. This will be the 10th annual awards ceremony and is the “Year of the Seneca”. The award will be presented June 3, 2010 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
