Philadelphia – Drexel University freshman Robert Church has been named this week's Colonial Athletic Association men's lacrosse Rookie of the Week. Church and the Dragons won two games this week and moved into the national rankings for the first time in 2010.
Church had a huge day in Drexel's 19-5 win against Saint Joseph's last Tuesday. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native scored five goals and had an assist. All six of his points came in the first half as Drexel raced out to a big lead. On Saturday, Church had another goal, this time in a 12-7 win at Binghamton. In both games, Church scored the eventual game-winning goal.
Through four games Church is second on the team with seven goals and tied for third with eight points. The Dragons have won three straight games and are ranked 20th in this week's USILA poll. Drexel has a tough test set for Tuesday, as No. 3 Notre Dame pays a visit to Vidas Field. Face-off is set for 4 p.m.
