Philadelphia – Drexel Men's Soccer Head Coach Doug Hess has announced the addition of Bryan Green to his coaching staff for the upcoming season. Green, a 1997 Elizabethtown College graduate, joins the Dragons after serving as an assistant coach at West Virginia for the last seven years.
Green is a proven winner who has brought this attitude to each program that he has been a part of. Prior to his time at West Virginia, Green spent three seasons as the head coach at Keystone College from 2000-2002. He led the Giants to a 14-3-1 record and a No. 3 ranking in the NJCAA Division III.
“I am thrilled to have Bryan and his wife, Ehren, join us here at Drexel,” Hess said. He is both a quality individual and a fantastic coach. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with him and rebuild the rich tradition of Drexel Soccer.”
Green was an All-American during his playing days at Elizabethtown, where he shared the pitch with Hess from 1994-96, and helped lead the Blue Jays to a 76-13-4 record and three Middle Atlantic Conference championship and four trips to the NCAA Tournament.
During his tenure in Morgantown, W.Va. Green assisted with all facets of the Mountaineers' soccer program and helped to develop and coach six players who went on to careers in Major League Soccer. Under Green's tutelage seven West Virginia players earned All-Big East honors, three earned All-Region honors and one was named ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America. With Green on the sidelines, the Mountaineers earned three NCAA Tournament bids, advanced to the “Sweet 16” once and were ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation.
Green holds a master's degree in sport management from East Stroudsburg University, where he served as an assistant coach from 1999-2000. He is also a USSF “B” Licensed coach and a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of American, holding national and advanced diplomas.
At Drexel, Green will be helping first-year coach Doug Hess to return the Dragons to their historically successful form after a 5-12-1 season last year.
