Philadelphia – Drexel Women's Soccer Head Coach Ray Goon announced the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. All eight will be eligible to play for the Dragons in August when the 2010 season kicks off.
Melissa Brennan (Scottsdale, Az./Desert Mountain) and Victoria Troccoli (Troy, Mich./Troy) will both help to support Drexel's final line of defense in the net. Brennan made crucial penalty saves during the quarters, semis, and finals of the Arizona Class 5A Division II State Championship as she led her team to their first ever title. Troccoli has been a four-year starter in net for Troy High School while earning All-Area, All-District, and All-Conference awards.
Samantha Greenfield (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Christine Stevenson (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) will add versatility to Drexel's midfield. Both players have garnered All-Southeastern Pa. honors during their senior years. Greenfield guided her team to a Philadelphia Catholic League and District 12 Championship while earning the PCL Most Valuable Player award. Stevenson led her team to the PIAA District 1 Championship game with a breakout senior year in which she tallied 18 goals and 20 assists.
Drexel's backline will continue to strengthen as Alessandra Mungioli (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) and Kietly Wright (Ramapo, N.J./IMG Soccer Academy, Fla./Ramapo) bring their solid defensive skills to the pitch.
