Box Score
Philadelphia – George Mason scored the only goal of the game with 2:14 left in the second overtime and edged Drexel, 1-0, in a Colonial Athletic Association match at Vidas Field.
Mason's Tiana Kallenberger scored the game winner after taking a feed from Omolyn Davis in the right side of the box. Davis beat Drexel (7-10-1, 3-6-1) keeper Nicole Sinclair to the left to give the Patriots (10-7-1, 6-4) the victory.
The game went back and forth in the overtime periods after Mason controlled most of the second half. George Mason looked as though it had the win when earlier in the second overtime when Kelly Thomas rang the crossbar. The ball came down and Davis had the rebound deep in the box but Sinclair came up with a huge save. Drexel countered minutes later and almost got the winner after a corner kick, but Jenna Lindsay and Sam Greenfield were each denied in front.
Mason had 10 corner kicks and 17 shots in the second half and overtimes, but couldn't get on the board until Kallenberger's golden goal. The Drexel defense bent but did not break as Sinclair was forced to make only six saves in the game. Alex Bodenschatz picked up the shutout for George Mason with two saves.
Mason outshot the Dragons, 9-5, in the first half. The Patriots had their best opportunity in the final two minutes of the half. Crissy Parker gained possession after a corner kick and fired a shot towards the far low corner. The ball was past Sinclair, but Allie Mungioli cleared the ball off the goal line, keeping the game scoreless at that point. Drexel's best opportunity of the half came midway through the first 45 minutes. Megan Mahon thwarted a Mason clearing attempt and got the ball in to Sydney Douglas just inside the box. Douglas turned to her right and had an open look from about 10 yards out, but Mason's Bodenschatz made the save.
The Dragons close out the 2010 season on Saturday night against Delaware. It will be Senior Night at Vidas Field, with kick-off at 7 p.m.
