Box Score
Philadelphia – Nicole Sinclair made all five of her saves in the first half and Jenna Lindsay gave the Dragons a lead they would never give up in a 2-0 shutout against Towson at Vidas Field. The win was the third in the last four matches for the Dragons, who improved to 7-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the CAA.
Drexel got on the board first midway through the first half. In the 24th minute, Sam Greenfield played a through ball down the center of the field. Junior Jenna Lindsay broke in alone and put the Dragons on the board. It was her fourth goal of the season and the 19th of her career. Lindsay had two other excellent opportunities to increase the lead, but Towson (6-9-3, 2-6-1) goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak came up with two big saves. Both teams had their chances but both Papciak and Drexel's Nicole Sinclair played well in goal. Each keeper had five saves in the first half.
The Dragons got an insurance goal in the 81st minute. After a Drexel corner kick taken by Kim Chiarelli, the ball bounced off a Towson defender, hit the crossbar and came down behind the Tigers' keeper. The linesman ruled the ball crossed the line, which gave Drexel a two-goal lead.
Towson outshot the Dragons, 14-12, but the Drexel defense did not allow a shot on goal in the final 45 minutes. Papciak finished with eight saves for the Tigers.
The Dragons continue their three game homestand on Sunday afternoon. George Mason visits Vidas Field for a 1 p.m. kick off.
