Mytych's Big Virginia Duals Lands CAA Wrestler of the Week Honors
Philadelphia - Drexel's Steve Mytych was named the Colonial Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week after winning all three of his matches at the 2010 Virginia Duals. The 133-pounder had previously been honored by the CAA this season when hewas named the December Wrestler of the Month. His impressive showing at the Virginia Duals moved Mytych up to 12th in the latest NWCA/Intermat National Poll.
Mytych's first match of the Virginia Duals came against fifth-ranked Danny Mitcheff of Kent State in a rematch of a bout earlier in the season that Mitcheff won at the Cornell Body Bar Invitational. This time, Mytych outpointed Mitcheff, 5-3. The senior followed with a 6-1 win over Erik Spjut of Virginia Tech before closing the duals with a resounding 10-0 major decision triumph over Sean Katz of Liberty.
Mytych and the Dragons will travel to Fairfax, Va. to take on Binghamton and Old Dominion in a pair of conference duals on the campus of George Mason on Saturday, Jan. 16.
