Hynes and Ambler Named Academic All-District

Drexel diver Kate Hynes and men's lacrosse player Colin Ambler were selected to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District at-large teams. Both Hynes and Ambler were tabbed First Team All-District for their athletic and academic accomplishments. Academic All-District teams are nominated and selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Hynes is a three-time recipient of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic Performer of the Year for women’s swimming and diving and was a second team Academic All-District honoree in 2007-08. In the pool, Hynes earned CAA Diver of the Year honors for the fourth straight season and was selected as the Outstanding Diver of the Meet at the CAA Championship for fourth year in a row after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. She went on to capture the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the NCAA Zone Championships for the third time. Hynes received honorable mention All-America honors for the second year in a row after winning the consolation final to place ninth on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Championships and was 19th on the 1-meter board at the NCAA’s.

Ambler earned the Academic All-District honor for the first time after completing an excellent season on and off the lacrosse field. The junior was a First Team All-CAA attackman for the Dragons after leading the team in goals, assists and points on the season. He already ranks 12th all-time at Drexel in career assists and is 20th in career scoring. Ambler was a 2008 CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year recipient and an Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for men’s lacrosse. A five-time member of the Dean’s List, Ambler holds a 3.6 cumulative GPA in business administration.
