Philadelphia - Junior Christina Mastropaolo has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer's Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for field hockey, highlighting a list of four Dragons honored by the Inquirer with spots on their 2009 Fall Academic All-Area Teams. Mastropaolo's teammates Jennifer Bolger and Susan Ciufo earned places on the Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team and sophomore men's soccer player Andrew Goldberg was tabbed for the Men's Soccer Academic All-Area Team.

Mastropaolo, who boasts a 3.58 GPA in English, was the CAA Player of the Year this season and also earned Second Team All-America and First Team All-Region honors after leading the Dragons to the CAA regular-season championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. She ranked among the top five goals per game and points per game and led the nation in game-winning goals this season.

Ciufo, an education major with a 3.26 GPA, was a First Team All-Region selection after scoring 21 goals and notching nine assists on the season. She was also honored in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" section while holding the nation's longest point-scoring streak early this fall.

Bolger is a senior education major with a 3.62 GPA. The back is a two time NFCA All-Academic Team selection and started all 23 games for the Dragons this season, scoring four goals and distributing four assists. She has started in every one of Drexel's games in each of the last two seasons, helping to solidify the team's defensive unit.

Andrew Goldberg is a sophomore forward on the men's soccer team with a 3.79 GPA in business administration. He was a Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Week this season and was second on the team in points with three goals and two assists on the year.
