Booth Named CAA Co-Rookie of the Month
Philadelphia - Drexel freshman Joe Booth was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Month for November after starting his collegiate wrestling career with a 6-2 overall record. The 157-pounder earned a runner-up finish at the Cornell Body Bar Invitational, one of the top events of the region. Booth shares the conference honor with Old Dominion's John Nicholson.
Booth began his collegiate career with a tough 9-8 loss to Maryland's Kyle John before reeling off six consecutive victories. He earned technical fall wins over York College's Alan Dyer and Pittsburgh's Kyle Patton. He opened his run at the Cornell Body Bar Invitational with a major decision triumph over Wyoming's Eric Jones, 11-3, before avenging his only loss of the season to John, 7-3. He advanced to the finals after a win over Cornell's D.J. Meagher. He took second after being defeated by Binghamton's Justin Lister. Booth's second-place finish was the highest among all Dragons at the Cornell Body Bar Invitational.
Booth and the Dragons travel to Las Vegas to participate in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational starting Friday, Dec. 4.
