Dragons Sweep CAA Weekly Diving Awards
Drexel's Megan Halicek and Ian Jevnick were selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's and Men's Diver of the Week, respectively, for their performances at the Dragons' dual meet against Binghamton. Halicek swept both boards while Jevnick took the 1-meter dive in his first event of the 2009-10 season.
Halicek began her big day with a resounding victory on the 3-meter board as she scored a 246.15, more than 65 points better than second-place Morgan Neal of Binghamton. The 1-meter board saw more of the same from Halicek as she cruised to victory by more than 77 points with a score of 245.63. The freshman's early season high scores have already secured her a place in the NCAA Diving Zone Regional.
Jevnick, a junior, battled back from an off-season injury to make his debut on the 1-meter board where he won by more than 28 points with a score of 247.50. The 2008 CAA Diver of the Year did not compete in the 3-meter event.
