Marginean Nets First CAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Bookmark and Share
Philadelphia - Senior forward Gabriela Marginean, the CAA's Preseason Player of the Year, earned the conference's first Player of the Week honor for the 2009-10 season.  On the week Marginean averaged 22 points and 9.5 rebounds and set new career highs for steals and assists while leading the Dragons to a 1-1 record.

In Drexel's season opener against Penn State Marginean led all scorers with 27 points and pulled in a team-high eight rebounds while snaring a career-high six steals in the Dragons' loss. Marginean's 21 second-half points keyed a Drexel run that trimmed Penn State's 20-point first half lead to just four in the second period.

Against University City rival Penn on Sunday Marginean put together her 22nd career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while also distributing a career-high four assists to help her team win a 56-42 contest. The senior is now just three points shy of setting Drexel's all-time scoring record, which is currently held by Michelle Maslowski at 1,900.

Marginean and the Dragons are back in action on Friday, Nov. 20 when they travel to play the Richmond Spiders at 7:00 p.m.
