Philadelphia —Drexel Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Brian Voelker has announced the team’s captains for the upcoming season. Seniors Colin Ambler and Matt McCormick have been chosen by the team to serve in that capacity for the 2010 season. The Dragons have also announced their schedule for 2009.

Ambler and McCormick were each First Team All-CAA selections in 2009. Ambler led the Dragons’ attack with 21 goals and 16 assists. McCormick led the team with 54 ground balls and was the team’s top close defender.

The Dragons open the season with three straight home games beginning on Feb. 20, when national-power Virginia comes to Vidas Field. It will be one of six games Drexel plays against teams that were ranked in the final Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll in 2009. Notre Dame should give the Dragons an early test when they come to Philadelphia on March 9. Other non-conference games include home games with St. John’s, Saint Joseph’s and Vermont. The Dragons will face Albany, Binghamton, Lafayette and Villanova, last year’s CAA champion, on the road.

The Colonial Athletic Association schedule begins on April 3 when the Dragons face Hofstra in Philadelphia. There is a new look to the 2010 CAA. Penn State and the University of Massachusetts begin CAA play this year and both of those teams will play at Vidas Field in 2010. Defending champion Villanova has moved to the Big East, while Robert Morris and Sacred Heart have joined the Northeast Conference.
