Men's Varsity Eight Takes Second Place in Grand Final of Knecht Cup

Philadelphia - Drexel crew completed the 2008 Knecht Cup as three men's boats earned appearances in finals, including two in grand finals. The men's varsity eight boat took second place in the grand final while the junior varsity eight claimed third. The novice eight finished second in the petite final. All three boats earned their way into the finals after preliminary races on Saturday, April 12.

In the men's varsity eight grand final, Drexel took second in a tight race in which less than three seconds separated the top four finishers. Temple won with a time of 5:49.8 while the Dragons weren't far behind finishing at 5:51.7. Colgate took third just 0.6 seconds behind Drexel while Lehigh finished fourth 0.8 seconds behind the Dragons.

The men's junior varsity eight placed third in the final with a time of 6:12.5 behind Temple (6:04.5) and Colgate (6:08.4). The Dragons finished ahead of Boston College (6:25.2), Loyola (6:27.0) and Maryland (6:32.0). Drexel's novice eight boat second in the petite final with a time of 6:22.4 as the Dragons finished just behind Marist and ahead of entries from Rochester, Lehigh, North Carolina and Lafayette.
