Richmond, Va. -- The Drexel men's basketball season came to an end this evening as Delaware defeated the Dragons, 60-51, in the first round of the CAA Tournament. The Dragons cut a 10-point deficit to just three with 1:32 to play, but Delaware scored the final nine points, including four from the free throw line, to earn the win. Drexel finished the season with a 12-20 record.

Frank Elegar led Drexel with 15 points, but had just two points in the second half. Gerald Colds had nine, including a pair of three-pointers. Drexel shot just 11-for-22 from the free throw line, including 6-for-14 from the charity stripe in the first half. Delaware (14-16) converted its free throw attempts and that proved to be the difference. The Blue Hens were 11-for-12 from the line in the second half. Marc Eggerson led four Hens in double figures with 15 points and nine rebounds. Herb Courtney added 14 points and eight rebounds.

It was the final game in a Drexel uniform for Elegar and Randy Oveneke. Elegar finished his career with 1,285 points and 676 rebounds. He ranks 15th in both of those categories. Oveneke had six points and a team-high seven rebounds in his final appearance.
