Junior Varsity Eight Opens Season With Win Over Lehigh

Philadelphia - Drexel men's crew opened the 2008 spring season on the Schuylkill River in a dual meet against Lehigh. The Drexel varsity eight fell behind from the start before gaining ground on the Mountain Hawks. In the second half of the race, Drexel continued to drive into Lehigh and pulled even with 400 meters to go. The boat stayed even stoke for stroke to the finish line but Lehigh pulled out the victory by 18 inches.
The Drexel junior varsity eight also started down to Lehigh but was able to overtake the Mountaini Hawks over the second half of the race to capture the win. In the novice race, the Dragons finished behind the Lehigh A boat but ahead of the Lehigh B boat.
