Suber Named CAA Women's Basketball Player Of the Week
Philadelphia - Senior guard Narissa Suber has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week for her performance during the week of Jan. 7-13. Suber led the Dragons to back-to-back conference road wins at Delaware and George Mason while helping the team push its winning streak to seven straight games.
Suber led the team to its first victory over Delaware since Jan. 27, 1999 with a season-high 24-point performance in Newark. The win snapped an 18-game losing streak against the rival Blue Hens. Suber was a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line and knocked down 3-of-5 three-pointers in the game.
At George Mason on Sunday, Suber stepped to the forefront again in the first half when Gabriela Marginean played just five minutes after getting two early fouls. Suber scored 11 of her 14 points in the first period to lead the Dragons into halftime with a 37-24 lead. She made her first three three-point attempts of the game and finished the game with four treys. On the week, Suber averaged 19.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and she was 7-for-12 from beyond the arc.
Suber is the second Dragon to earn Player of the Week honors this season, Marginean garnered the award on Nov. 20 after the second week of the season. Suber and the Dragons will look to keep their winning streak alive against conference foes Northeastern (Jan. 17) and UNC Wilmington (Jan. 20) this week. The Dragons game against UNC Wilmington will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet at 4:00 on Sunday.
