Pron, a senior captain, led by example both on and off the tennis court and in the classroom. She made the transition from a varsity softball player to a tennis standout without missing a beat. In the weight room, she had a 200-pound front squat, one of the highest totals for all varsity female student-athletes at Drexel. She has a 3.9 grade-point average and is majoring in digital media.
Sanchez, also a senior captain, has been one of the hardest workers in the weight room in recent memory. His tireless effort enabled him to battle back from foot surgery in the offseason. The native of Camden, N.J., bench presses 300 pounds, hang cleans 245 pounds and front squats 325 pounds. Sanchez, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic team, was fourth on the team in scoring and third in rebounding.
The NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year program recognizes those collegiate athletes, whose athletic accomplishments, in the opinion of their strength coach, reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning. These athletes are also recognized for their academic and personal accomplishments and their integrity as student athletes. Power Systems, Inc. is the official sponsor of this program. This year, the NSCA presented 242 collegiate athletes from 160 schools this award.
