Philadelphia -The Colonial Athletic Association named Drexel's 197-pound Jon Oplinger (Bath, Pa./Northampton) its co-Wrestler of the Week for his performance from Feb. 12-19. Oplinger shares this week's award with Rider's T.J. Morrison.
Oplinger won both of his matches last week including a major decision victory over 16th-ranked Matt Cassidy of Lehigh. The sophomore defeated Cassidy, 16-6, to put Drexel within five team points of 14th-ranked Lehigh with just one match remaining. Lehigh eventually won the match, 21-19. Oplinger is a perfect 5-0 since returning from a knee injury suffered at the Virginia Duals. Drexel set a new school mark with 20 wins en route to a final 20-9 season record.
Oplinger and the rest of the Dragons are hosting the CAA Championships on March 3-4 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The first match will begin on Friday, Mar. 3 at 1:00 p.m.
