Major General Douglass T Greene

General Greene served as athletics director and business manager at Drexel for 10 years from 1952-1961. His career at Drexel spanned almost three decades, and begain in 1934 when he was named commandant of the ROTC program and professor of military science and tactics. A return to active duty during World War II interrupted his work at then Drexel Institute of Technology. When he returned from his assignment as commander of the 16th Armored Division in 1946, he assumed a position as executive assistant to the president of DIT before becoming the director of athletics.
A 1913 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he served as president of his class. General Greene died at the age of 73 and is buried at West Point. His son, Lt. Col. Thomas Patrick Greene, died while serving his country in the Korean.
