Drexel Men’s Varsity Finishes Second in Grand Final at San Diego Crew Classic

San Diego, Calif. - In one of nation's most prestigious early spring events in the collegiate rowing calendar, Drexel's men's varsity eight earned a berth to the grand finals and finished second overall at the 2011 San Diego Crew Classic.

In the grand final, coxwain by Randall Lee with stroke Kurt Linton, Gregg Francis, Aleksandar Radovic, Lorenzo Albala, Michael Faust, Kyle Fabel, Timothy Drake and bow Jacob Sloan guided the Vince Vidas boat to a time of 6:18.18. Brit. Columbia crossed the finish line first in 6:14.00 ahead of the Dragons.

In the preliminary heat, the Vince Vidas boat placed first with a time of 6:03.70. Oklahoma City crossed the finish line second in 6:05.643 while third-place USD clocked in at 6:08414. Washington State, Minnesota, Cal LW and ASU claimed fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
