Bucknell Comes From Behind to Clip Dragons in Double Overtime

Lewisburg, Pa. – Drexel held a 1-0 lead with just over two minutes left in regulation, looking to close out its second road win of the season. But the Dragons saw their advantage come crashing down on a Bucknell (3-5) goal in the 88th minute to force overtime and a second score by the Bison 23 seconds into the second extra period to steal the victory 2-1. Anthony Bafile scored his third goal of the season for the Dragons (4-3-1) who wrap up their four-game road swing 0-2-2 and return to Vidas Field this Saturday.
Anthony Bafile staked the Dragons to a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute by knocking home the carom off a shot blasted by Andrew Goldberg that rebounded off the crossbar.
Brendan Burgdorf squared the match in the 88th minute on a well taken shot that found net for the Bison for the first time all night.
Bucknell outshot Drexel 14-12 in regulation, forcing Dragons' keeper Tim Washam to make seven saves in net.
Drexel did its best to claim the contest early in overtime. The Dragons earned a corner kick in the 92nd minute and Bafile found the head of defender Tal Bublil on the service, forcing a save by Bucknell keeper Marc Hartmann. Minutes later Nate Baker blasted a shot high of the crossbar.
Washam was tested himself in the 97th minute on a shot by CK Kumah. But the sophomore keeper was equal to the task, making his eighth stop of the night.
The teams remained tied at a goal apiece after 100 minutes of play. As the second overtime period opened, Bucknell's Josh Plump took a ball on the left side and made a long run before shooting from 15 yards out to deliver the golden goal.
Bucknell outshot Drexel 16-13 on the game. Washam made eight stops in goal for the Dragons while Hartmann saved three for the Bison.
Drexel returns to Vidas Field in hopes of defending its unbeaten home record on Saturday, Oct. 2. The Dragons host UNC Wilmington
