Philadelphia – Four Drexel men's lacrosse players have been selected to play in the 2010 Lax World/USILA North/South game. Seniors Colin Ambler, Adam Dennis, Zak Fisher and Matt McCormick will represent Drexel on the South team. The four selections are the most the school has ever had in the game.
Ambler (Abington, Pa./Abington) was Drexel's John Semanik Award winner as the school's top senior male athlete. He scored 22 goals and had 16 assists for the Dragons in 2010 and finished his career ranked eighth on the career assist list. Ambler, who plays attack, is also 11th all-time at the school in both goals and points. He was a co-captain the last two seasons.
Dennis (Fairfax, Va./DeMatha), a midfielder, had a big senior season for the Dragons. He scored 16 goals and handed out eight assists for 24 points. Dennis scored at least one goal in Drexel's last 10 games and had a pair of game-winning goals, including the winner at No. 8 Lafayette in the final minute
Fisher (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), a face-off specialist, was Drexel's top face-off man in 2010. He won more than 57 percent of his draws and is ranked 10th in the nation in face-off percentage. Fisher won 85 face-offs in 2010 and finished his career with 285 wins at the “x”. He also scored three goals in transition as a senior.
McCormick (West Chester, Pa.,/Malvern Prep) was also a two-time captain for the Dragons and a key member of the nationally-ranked defense. Drexel's defense is ranked seventh in the country entering championship weekend, allowing just 8.33 goals per game. The extra-man unit, to which McCormick is a major contributor, is eighth in the nation with a .746 kill percentage.
The 2010 Lax World/USILA North/South games will be held on Friday, May 28 at Goucher College in Towson, Md. The Division III game will start at 3 p.m. at Beldon Field, while the Division I/II contest begins at 5:30 p.m. The North/South game began in 1940, when Baltimore hosted the inaugural game.
