Mytych Named CAA Co-Wrestler of the Month

Philadelphia - Drexel's Steve Mytych was named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Wrestler of the Month for December after going 10-3 in the month and winning the Wilkes Open as well as taking third at the Cliff Keen Vegas Invitational. Mytych shares the honor with Old Dominion's James Nicholson.
Mytych was named Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Wilkes Open after winning all four of his matches without giving up a takedown in any of his matches. In the 133-pound final, Mytych defeated 2009 Division II National Runner-Up and current No. 1 Shane Valko, 3-1. He went 5-2 at the Cliff Keen Vegas Invitational including a win by technical fall and major decision. Mytych is currently ranked 19th in the nation at 133 pounds.
Mytych and the Dragons return to action on Friday, Jan. 8 in the team's first match of the 2010 Virginia Duals. Drexel will open the event with a dual against No. 19 Kent State at 9:00 a.m. before the Dragons will take on either No. 14 Penn State or No. 24 Virginia Tech later that day.
