Fouch Named CAA Rookie of the Week for the Second Time
Philadelphia – Drexel freshman Chris Fouch has been named this week’s Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball Rookie of the Week. Fouch had a huge week off the bench as Drexel recorded two CAA wins at home.
Fouch poured in a career-high 29 points in Drexel’s win against Hofstra on Saturday afternoon. He was 6-for-11 from long range and finished the game 10-for-15 from the floor. The New York native, who attended Rice High School, had 19 of his points in the first half.
Earlier in the week, Fouch had all 13 of his points in the second half as the Dragons defeated James Madison. He made three of his four three-point attempts.
In the two games, Fouch averaged 21 points off the bench and shot 67 percent from the field. He also shot 60 percent (9-for-15) from behind the three-point stripe and was perfect in five attempts from the free throw line. The redshirt freshman is now third on the team in scoring at 9.8 points per game and is shooting .375 from long range this season. He leads the team in both three-point percentage and in three-point field goals with 42.
It is the second time this season that Fouch has been named Rookie of the Week. He earned the award the first time after scoring 23 points in a non-conference game against Rhode Island in December.
The Dragons are 6-3 in the CAA this season and 11-10 overall. The team faces a pivotal road trip this week with games at Northeastern, who is tied for the top spot in the CAA, and with William & Mary, who is currently tied with the Dragons at 6-3 in league play.
