Dragons Drop Brown, 27-9

Providence, R.I. - Drexel wrestling defeated Brown, 27-9, in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon. The Dragons won seven of the 10 matches, highlighted by Steve Mytych's win by fall at 133 pounds. Shane Fenningham, Joe Booth and Kyle Frey also picked up bonus points in their victories. 

Michael Gomez opened the match with a back and forth 13-11 victory before Mytych's pin gave Drexel a 9-0 lead. Fenningham won by major decision before the Bears got on the board with a win at 149 pounds. Booth responded with a 20-6 triumph but Brown won the 165 pound match. Dave Woodall and Justin Wieller won by decision at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively, to clinch the match victory for Drexel. Kyle Frey capped the win with a 13-3 major decision victory at heavyweight.

Women's Soccer

Ashley Klun scored the game-winning goal for Drexel in a 1-0 win over UMBC in the women's soccer season opener at Vidas Field. Klun netted her first strike of the season with less than seven minutes left in the contest.
