Kabernagel Tabbed For Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

Philadelphia - Senior Kimberly Kabernagel has been honored for the second year in a row as a member of the Philadelphia Inquirer's Academic All-Area Team. Kabernagel, who earned the recognition last season as a member of the women's soccer team, represented Drexel's women's lacrosse team this season after carrying a 3.75 grade-point average in biological sciences.
On the field as a senior this year, Kabernagel corralled 21 groundballs and 23 draw controls while causing 15 turnovers. The three-year starter at midfield also scored seven goals and recorded two assists. In two of her best performances of the year, Kabernagel scored game-tying goal and caused four turnovers in season opening victory over Virginia Tech and picked up three groundballs and three draw controls along with a a pair of goals in victory over Wagner.
Kabernagel completed her playing career this season as one of the most versatile student-athletes in Drexel's history. In addition to her three years starting for the lacrosse team, she was also a four-year starter and letterwinner on the women's soccer team.
The Inquirer and the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association have honored the top student-athletes in the area with these awards each year since the fall of 2005. The Dragons have been well represented among the Academic All-Area teams each season. In addition to Kabernagel, Drexel's other honorees this season were Ashley Botelho (softball), Anthony Fittipaldi and Jacob Sloan (men's crew), Katherine LaBarbera (women's crew), Colin Ambler (men's lacrosse) and Anahita Jagtiani (women's tennis).
