Kurdadze Advances In Main Draw at ITA Regionals

Hanover, N.H. - Sophomore Nikoloz Kurdadze continued his weekend run at the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament at Dartmouth College with a victory in his first match in the Main Draw singles bracket. Kurdadze won a pair of matches on Thursday to qualify for the Main Draw. On Friday the transfer sophomore waited until 7:00 p.m. before playing his only match of the day and defeating Quinnipiac's John Hughes 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Kurdadze and Bryan Nguyen will both take the court in the Main Draw for the Dragons on Saturday.
Senior Mehdi Rhazali dropped his first round match in the Main Draw on Friday, falling 6-4, 6-1 to Yale's Marc Powers. Drexel's doubles team of Kurdadze and Jason Savage-Pollock also made a first-round exit, losing 8-5 to Binghamton's Evan Algier and Alexandre Haggai.
Kurdadze will face Cornell's Jeremy Feldman, who had a first-round bye, at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bryan Nguyen, who found himself in the Man Draw after a late withdrawal by one of the seeded players, will take the court for the first time in the top bracket against city rival Mark Milbrandt of Penn at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
