Washington, D.C. – Georgetown held Drexel to just 25 percent shooting from the floor and defeated the Dragons, 81-53. The Hoyas, ranked 22nd in the nation this week, went on a 15-0 run after the Dragons scored the first two points and went on to the victory. Scott Rodgers led Drexel with 13 points.

Drexel (1-1) committed 11 turnovers in the first half as the Hoyas opened up a 42-25 lead at intermission. Georgetown shot 62 percent in the first half. The Dragons made their last four shots of the half to cut the lead down to 17. Rodgers and Gerald Colds each had eight points in the first half. However, the 22nd-ranked Hoyas opened the second half like they did the first. They scored the first nine points to put the game away.

The Dragons held Georgetown to just 29 percent from long range. The Hoyas made just six of their 29 long-range attempts. The Hoyas outrebounded the Dragons by just one, 34-33. Drexel had 11 offensive rebounds, including three by Jamie Harris, and made 20 of its 23 free throw attempts. Harris finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Colds (11 points) and Tramayne Hawthorne (10) each scored in double figures.

Greg Monroe led four Hoyas in double figures with 20 points. He also had eight rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals. Austin Freeman was 6-for-7 from the floor and scored 16 points.

The Dragons are off until Dec. 1, when Big West favorite Cal State Northridge comes to the Daskalakis Athletic Center for a 7 p.m. game.
