Daskalakis Athletic Center -- DAC

     The John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center houses the Drexel basketball programs as well as Drexel's physical education, intramural and intercollegiate athletic programs.  Opened in February of 1975, the Center was designed by the Philadelphia architectural firm of Thalheimer and Weitz.  The two-story, four-level structure covers a three acre area on the north side of Market Street between 33rd and 34th streets in the University City section of Philadelphia.

     The facility includes a collegiate-sized, six lane swimming pool and a seperate three-board diving well on the lower level.  The Independance Blue Cross Wellness Center houses exercise rooms, Nautilus, free weight and cardiovascular training areas, a multipurpose classroom, a dance studio and a conference rooom on the lower level of the buidling.  Squash and racquetb-ball courts are also available.  The athletic offices, locker rooms and athletic training room are located on the ground level.
